  Youths, women and political stakeholders from Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency have made an emotional appeal to Governor Bassey Otu and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State to support the re-election bid of the member representing the constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Dr. Emil Inyang, ahead of the 2027 general elections. The stakeholders, under the aegis of the Akamkpa/Biase Youth Movement, also urged the governor to intervene in growing divisions within the APC in the constituency, warning that internal cracks could threaten party unity and electoral stability ahead of future elections. The Niger Delta Development Commission ( NDDC ), has clarified that the economic empowerment programme held in Calabar on May 9 was facilitated by Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong and specifically targeted at beneficiaries from Cross River South Senatorial District , contrary to claims circulating online that the initiative was designed for the entire state.
