Biase Chairman Celebrates New CP Okon Effiong on NDC Graduation, Minister of Defense's Price Award

 



The Executive Chairman of Biase Local Government Area, Hon. (Mrs) Ada Charles Egwu, yesterday led a delegation of high profile dignitaries and top government functionaries of Biase extraction to celebrate with the newly promoted and decorated Commissioner of Police, CP Okon Effiong Okon on his well deserved appointment and successful graduation from the National Defence College, Abuja.



CP Okon Effiong whose research work: "Electoral Process and National Security in Nigeria: An Assessment" was which adjudged the best by panelists and bagged the Honourable Minister of Defense's Prize for Outstanding Research and Performance at the College.


In her remark during the reception ceremony, which held in Abuja, the Executive Chairman of Biase Local Government Council expressed excitement and gratitude to God Almighty over the meritorious achievements of CP Okon in recent times.


Speaking further, She said: "CP Okon is a special, celebral and intelligent officer who has made made history as the first ever Biase indigene to clinch that venerate rank in the Nigerian Police since the country's independence"


Hon. Ada thanked His Excellency the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Sen. (Prof) Ben Ayade and supportive Deputy, His Excellency Prof Ivara Ejemot Esu, OFR, for providing the enabling environment for her people to strive through the timely socketing of the State to National Politics and Affairs, while anticipating more dividends for the Local Government Area and the State at large.


The Chairman equally thanked Engr. Egan-Adat for her kind presence and adequate mobilisation of Biase cultural troupe who turned up in their numbers to entertain guest who came from all walks of life to graced the event.


On his part, Distinguished Senator John Owan Enoh who also graced the occasion took out time to congratulate CP Okon and acknowledged the gesture extended to him by the Chairperson in the invite, honour and show of love, noting that his heart was indeed filled with joy and appreciation.


In his appreciation remark, CP Okon who could not hide his pleasant surprise at the benevolence of the Chairman and her team from Calabar, noted that indeed history was made this day as he finds himself honoured and considered it a rare privileged to be celebrated lavishly by his own people. 


Okon, who commended the leadership style of Mrs Egwu as Council Chairman, salutes the courage and humanitarian disposition of the Council Chairman and assure her of his support always. 


In a vote of thanks, the Secretary of Council Secretary, Mr. Daniel Enang thanked the Chairman and all illustrious sons and daughters of Biase as well other top dignitaries who graced the occasion.


The Vice Chairman of Council, Hon. Barr  Oyono Ekpe, Honourable  Councillors, Sepcial Adviser on Peace and  Security, Hon. Ukam Onette, Executive Director Cross River Environmental Protection Agency (CREPA), Hon. Ekuma Ngwu, Special Assistant to the Governor, Ministry of Justice, Barr. Ijom Ukam,   Special Assistant on New Media to the Deputy Governor, Comr. Owai Obo, Chairman's Personal Aides, among others were part of the Chairman delegation that graced the event.

Engr. Jerome Egbe Visits NSCDC Command for Strategic Partnership on Public Utilities

  The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. Dr. Jerome Egbe, KSM, today, October 8, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, Mr. Brown Charles, in Calabar.  The visit centered on establishing a strategic partnership to protect and secure public utilities across the state from vandals and criminal elements.
