Peace Corps National Commandant, Dr. Dickson Akoh Lays Father to Rest in Ogoli-Ugboju Amidst Tears and Mourning
The late father of the National Commandant of Peace Corps of Nigeria and the Oyachaba K'Idoma title holder, Dr Dickson Akoh was on Saturday, 14th September, 2024 buried in his hometown of Ogoli-Ugboju amidst tears and mourning.
Chief Ojonye who untill his passage was the Village Head of Ogoli-Ugboju retired from the Nigerian Army as a Warrant Officer after serving the country meritoriously within and outside the shore of Nigeria in Peace Keeping Operations.
Speaking during the funeral service, the Presiding Minister, the Arch Bishop of Benue Diocese, Most Rev'd Joshua Y Ngbede eulogized the godly virtue exhibited by Pa Akoh while on earth and asked all and sundry to emulate that Christ liked attributes without which it will be impossible to be with Christ on the resurrection morning.
In his condolences to the bereaved family, the Secretary to the Government of the Federal SGF, Sen. George Akume represented by his Chief of Staff, Chief Tarka described the deceased as a dogged soldier who sacrificed his young age fighting in defence of the unity and territorial integrity of Nigeria. He prayed God to continue to console the entire family especially Dr Dickson Akoh whom he described as a dependable friend and brother.
The Benue State Governor was represented at the burial ceremony by the Honourable Commissioner for Education.
The Late Rtd. Warrant Officer, (Chief) Simon Ameh Ojonye Akoh, JP was buried by the military in his family compound, Ogoli-Ugboju after military parade.
Dr Dickson Akoh on behalf of the family expressed his profound gratitude to those who stood by them during their moment of grief and asked God to bless protect them.
