Uphold Discipline, Integrity, Excellence — VC Charges New Students at Arthur Jarvis University Matriculation

The Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, today held its 9th Matriculation Ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic session at the institution’s High School Hall. A total of 220 students were formally inducted into the university community during the ceremony.

Delivering his address, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Dr. Joseph Ekpe Edet, expressed heartfelt joy and gratitude to God as he officially welcomed the new students.

“It is with honour and joy that I stand before you today to welcome you all to the ninth Matriculation Ceremony of Arthur Jarvis University. This occasion marks the beginning of an exciting academic journey for our newly admitted students,” he said.

Dr. Edet emphasized that the newly admitted students had met all admission requirements and were now bona fide members of the university, enjoying the full rights and privileges of membership.

He encouraged them to uphold discipline, respect university rules, and maintain a clean and safe campus environment.

He further urged them to promptly pay their fees and report any unethical or suspicious activity.

The Vice Chancellor called on the students to embrace discipline, hard work, integrity, and excellence, stating that these principles define the Arthur Jarvis University identity.

He reiterated the university's strict zero tolerance policy against examination malpractice, cultism, possession of dangerous weapons, violence, sexual misconduct, theft, impersonation, and fraudulent activities.

Dr. Edet warned that violations would attract severe disciplinary measures, including suspension, expulsion, or legal prosecution. The institution’s drug testing policy, he added, remains in effect to promote a safe, drug-free environment.

Dr. Edet noted that since obtaining its full statutory license from the National Universities Commission (NUC) in June 2020, Arthur Jarvis University has continued to grow in academic reputation and institutional excellence.

He proudly announced that over 900 students have graduated from the university, with many of them excelling in various professional fields and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

VC also noted the university’s 100% NUC accreditation status and professional certifications from bodies such as the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, the Medical Laboratory Science Council, and the Council of Legal Education. These accreditations have enabled students in relevant disciplines to participate in national professional examinations and attend law school.

He announced that the NUC has approved several new undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including:

✓BSc in Data Science

✓BSc in Software Engineering

✓BSc in Cyber Security

✓PGD and MSc in Computer Science

These new offerings will be administered through the university’s newly established School of Postgraduate Studies, designed to provide advanced academic and research opportunities.

“You are now part of a dynamic family that will challenge you, nurture you, and prepare you for a successful future,” he declared.
