Obudu Thunders in Unison: Tinubu, Otu Endorsed for 2027 Continuity

…An electrifying rally of loyalty, gratitude, and resolve

Obudu Local Government Area witnessed an unforgettable spectacle on Saturday as its people poured out in their thousands to declare unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, Governor Bassey Edet Otu, and Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, urging them to continue in office beyond 2027.

The Council Secretariat Field transformed into a sea of colours and solidarity, as traditional rulers, political leaders, women, youth, and party faithful converged in a carnival-like atmosphere filled with music, dances, and chants that echoed one message: continuity for progress.

In her opening charge, Commissioner for Sports Development and Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Hon. Agnes Atsu, set the tone, stressing that the endorsement was born out of conviction, not sentiment.

“This is no ordinary political ritual. It is the heartfelt voice of a people inspired by performance, uplifted by leadership, and determined to safeguard their future,” she declared, drawing thunderous applause.

APC State Chairman, Barr. Alphonsus Eba, followed with words that resonated with the crowd. He hailed Obudu’s unity and praised the Council Chairman for translating the APC’s vision into visible grassroots gains.

“This solidarity is proof that Nigerians have not been let down. The people of Obudu have spoken with one voice: the road to 2031 must be paved with continuity,” Eba affirmed.

Governor Otu, represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Chief (Dr.) Emmanuel Ironbar, was visibly moved by the groundswell of support. He assured the people that the Governor’s People-First mantra would continue to drive rural transformation, agricultural revival, and social service expansion.

“This endorsement is a badge of honour and a call to greater responsibility. It challenges us to deepen our efforts and broaden the impact of governance. Obudu, and indeed all of Cross River, will continue to feel the heartbeat of people-centered leadership,” Ironbar promised.

He urged residents to seize the opportunity of INEC’s Continuous Voter Registration to amplify their political voice and secure the future they so passionately desire.

The Executive Chairman of Obudu Local Government Council, Hon. (Amb.) Peter Akonfe Undiandeye, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, commending Governor Otu for lifting governance to new heights and saluting the people for standing tall in unity.

Goodwill messages from leading stakeholders — including Chief Eugene Ake, Dr. Paul Adalikwu, Mrs. Kate Agba-Ajibike, and the Paramount Ruler of Obudu, HRM Chief Felix Okudare — painted a glowing picture of reform, resilience, and renewed hope under Tinubu and Otu’s leadership.

The climax came when formal motions of endorsement were moved and seconded. The motion for President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima was moved by Hon. Peter Akpanke, Member representing Obanliku/Bekwarra/Obudu Federal Constituency, and seconded by Deputy Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Sylvester Agabi.

In the same breath, elder statesman Hon. Chief Tony Undiandeye, JP, moved the motion endorsing Governor Otu and his Deputy, seconded by Hon. Chief (Dr.) Martin Orim, former Chief of Staff to the Governor. Both motions were met with deafening approval as the crowd roared in unison, sealing the endorsement with a chorus of loyalty.

The day closed with cultural displays and performances that turned the rally into a festival of faith in leadership.
