Engr. Jerome Egbe Visits NSCDC Command for Strategic Partnership on Public Utilities

 


The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. Dr. Jerome Egbe, KSM, today, October 8, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, Mr. Brown Charles, in Calabar. 

The visit centered on establishing a strategic partnership to protect and secure public utilities across the state from vandals and criminal elements.

During the meeting, Engr. Egbe emphasized the importance of safeguarding all critical public infrastructure and ensuring close collaboration between the Ministry of Public Utilities and the NSCDC in achieving the Governor’s vision for a sustainable and secure state.

He also inspected the state of the Command’s facilities and sympathized with the personnel over the recent rainstorm that destroyed parts of the roofing, leaving the building flooded and disrupting operations.

Engr. Egbe conveyed the administration’s sympathy and reiterated Governor Bassey Otu’s strong commitment to strengthening security infrastructure statewide. He assured that the government would continue to support all security agencies, stating that security remains a top priority in the Governor’s agenda.

He further commended the NSCDC Command for initiating the ongoing 2025 Empowerment Programme in Oil and Gas Tank Farm Operations, designed to equip personnel with safety and technical skills crucial for protecting state infrastructure.

SA concluded by reaffirming that the administration of His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, is determined to support all parastatals and agencies, emphasizing that “this is a season of sweetness” for every sector in Cross River State.

Speaking earlier, Commander Brown Charles, in his remarks, lamented the poor state of the Command’s infrastructure, noting that constant rainfall has made the building unsafe for personnel due to leaks and structural deterioration. 

He disclosed that the situation has affected sensitive areas such as the armoury, ICT unit, and other vital departments. 

The Commander appealed for the State Government’s urgent intervention, including repairs, additional operational vehicles, and the installation of solar lighting systems to aid nighttime operations.

    Your curtesy visit will be enhancing the establishment of our dear state but my challenges in all of the activities in Cross River State is, Ekureku has never been remembered for anything good both services and infrastructural development then my question now is Ekureku not part of Cross River State?
