The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akamkpa Local Government Area has reaffirmed its unity, loyalty and commitment to the party following a peace accord and stakeholders’ interactive session led by the State Chairman, Rt. Hon. Chris Etta, and members of the State Working Committee.
The engagement attracted about 6,000 APC members, who gathered in a strong show of solidarity and reconciliation, demonstrating their determination to put past differences behind them and move forward as one political family.
Speaking at the event, Commissioner Pius Ankpo thanked God for the peace in Akamkpa and commended the State Chairman and his team for taking the peace-building initiative to various parts of the state.
He also appreciated Governor Bassey Edet Otu for his continued interest in Akamkpa and reiterated his support for the administration.
According to the Commissioner, disagreements arising from the party’s primaries had been resolved through consultations and the collective understanding of stakeholders and aspirants.
He urged party members to place the supremacy and progress of the APC above personal interests, stressing that peace, unity and loyalty were essential to the party’s success.
Addressing concerns over the condition of roads in Akamkpa, Ankpo explained that the Oban–Ekang Road project had been awarded to Faithplant Global. He noted that the condition of some existing bridges had temporarily affected the movement of heavy-duty equipment but assured residents that construction activities would intensify as the rains subside.
He expressed optimism that the Oban–Nsan Road, which connects the two constituencies, would also receive the desired attention.
The Commissioner further appealed to residents to remain supportive of the Otu administration, noting that sustainable development takes time and insisting that Cross River State has recorded significant progress over the past three years.
In a strong declaration of party loyalty, Ankpo stated: “Akamkpa is APC, and APC is Akamkpa.”
He expressed confidence that the reconciliation achieved in Akamkpa would translate into electoral strength, declaring that the people were united and prepared to deliver a five-over-five victory for the APC in 2027.
The meeting ended with renewed calls for reconciliation, brotherhood and collective commitment to building a stronger and more united APC in Akamkpa and across Cross River State.
