CRHA: NIGERIAN SOCIETY OF ENGINEERS APPEALS FOR A LEGISLATION TO BOOST THEIR PROFESSION

The Speaker, Rt. Hon Eteng Jonah Williams, has assured that the Cross River State House of Assembly will provide a law that will boost the activities of the Nigerian Society of Engineers in the State.


Williams gave the assurance, when the Cross River State Chapter, of the society, led by it's Chairman, Engr, Ndifon M. Agbiji, paid him a visit in his office.


The Speaker reiterated the need for Engineers to be protected just as lawyers, Doctors, Accountants, Teachers and other professions, maintaining that a legislation should be in place that will protect the Engineering profession, adding that if possible a private member bill can be introduced.


He however called for supporting information from the society of Engineers as a build up to the House process.


Earlier, the State Chairman, Nigerian Society of Engineers, noted that Engineers found it necessary to visit the Speaker and members to appreciate the good works of the Cross River 9th Assembly, under the able leadership of Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams.


Agbiji, also used the opportunity to Commend His Excellency, the Governor, Prof Ben. Ayade, for signing into law, the Cross River State Development Bill, as well as the opportunity given to the branch members of the society, to serve in the State Exco, including, Engr. Dan Osim Asu, as Works Commissioner, as well as Engr. Mike Eraye, Commissioner, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, both fellows of the Society.


The State Chairman, appealed that the House of Assembly, as a matter of necessity should carry along Engineers during Budget defense with MDA's, oversight functions, as well as the supervision of Contractual jobs in the State.
