"Your emergence as Unical VC is the will of God" Obong of Calabar tells Prof. Florence Banku Obi

The Obong of Calabar, His Eminence, Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V, has congratulated the first female Vice Chancellor elect of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Banku Obi.


The Obong, who received the VC in his private home in Adiabo community, said that Prof. Obi was starting on an excellent path by soliciting the support of critical stakeholders for a smooth running of her administration.


According to the Obong, Prof. Obi became the first VC elect to visit him and solicit support for her 5-year term administration.


"What you have done today is historic and I will put it in record. God works in a miraculous way; alot of people never thought of you, but I want to say that your victory is the will of God.


"We pray God to guide and give you the strength to run a smooth administration. I fully endorse your victory and I will give you my utmost support that you so desire," he said


Similarly, a former lawmaker representing Southern Senatorial District, Senator Bassey Henshaw, who also received the VC elect in his house, said that the positions held by Prof. Obi in the University and public Service counted in her favour.


Senator Henshaw, who attracted projects to the University while in the Senate and in the NDDC, promised to work closely with the VC elect to ensure that the projects are completed and put to use.

Engr. Jerome Egbe Visits NSCDC Command for Strategic Partnership on Public Utilities

  The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. Dr. Jerome Egbe, KSM, today, October 8, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, Mr. Brown Charles, in Calabar.  The visit centered on establishing a strategic partnership to protect and secure public utilities across the state from vandals and criminal elements. UNICROSS ACTING VC EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER DAMAGE OF UNIVERSITY STUCTURES AFTER RAINSTORM IN CALABAR
