CREPA Partners NESREA for Clean and Healthy Environment

 


The Cross River State coordinator of National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency Mr. Gwamma A. Ibrahim has said the Commission is committed to collaborating with the Cross River State environmental protection agency to ensure a cleaner environment in Cross River State.


Ibrahim stated this when the Director General of CREPA and his team paid him a courtesy visit in his office.


While commending the efforts of CREPA so far, he said he's alive to meet with the agency.


He added that the two agency would work together in checking how waste is managed within the state, most importantly at the dump site.


" NESREA regulates laws while CREPA enforce the law" State Coordinator.


Ibrahim went ahead to advise, the agency to visit hospitals, hotels and water factories to check how their waste is being managed and positioned.


He further explained the various ways of disposing waste while both agencies synergied for proper public awareness and sensitization.


State Coordinator urged CREPA to check items that were impounded to avoid keeping them for so long and he promised to give CREPA, NESREA staff to assist where necessary for capacity building.


DG thanked the State Coordinator for opening His office and welcoming them to NESREA, that such a gesture is highly appreciated and promised to work with the agency and learn from them to safeguard the environment against degradation and management of wastes. The DG also requested on behalf of CREPA a copy of NESREA gazetted laws and other operational documents to aid their activities/oversight in the state.


On vote of thanks the SSA to the Governor, Environmental protection - Hon. Moses Osenji, thanked the State Coordinator for the lecture, added that truly experience is the best teacher.

Engr. Jerome Egbe Visits NSCDC Command for Strategic Partnership on Public Utilities

  The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. Dr. Jerome Egbe, KSM, today, October 8, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, Mr. Brown Charles, in Calabar.  The visit centered on establishing a strategic partnership to protect and secure public utilities across the state from vandals and criminal elements. UNICROSS ACTING VC EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER DAMAGE OF UNIVERSITY STUCTURES AFTER RAINSTORM IN CALABAR

  The Acting Vice Chancellor of University of Cross River State, Professor Francisca Bassey, has expressed concern over the gravity of damage of the University's structures recorded in the wake of the rainstorm which swept through Calabar city yesterday, the 7th of May, 2025.  The Acting Vice Chancellor who was represented by the Director of Administration,  Professor Tom Ojikpong, expressed this concern when she led members of the University's management team on an on-the-spot inspection of the affected buildings in Calabar campus of the University.
