UNICAL VC Eulogized for Drawing Varsity Students to God

The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration of the University of Calabar  (UNICAL), Prof Michael P. Okom has lauded the institution's Vice Chancellor, Prof Florence Obi, for assiduously drawing both the management staff and  students to God as the citadel of learning commences academic activities after the lockdown occasioned by COVID-19.

Prof Okom who gave the commendation during an interdenominational service held yesterday in Calabar, urged students and staff to use the opportunity of the fellowship to be in the right standing with Jesus Christ.

“Our VC is bringing us to the right path because she is acknowledging that the spiritual rules the physical, without Jesus we can do nothing," he said.

According to him, Professor Obi's administration abhors vices which could offend God, adding that, “I want to assure you that I am placed in a front row seat where I cannot just hear a word from her mouth alone, but I also read her body language. She has zero tolerance for sexual harassment, sorting and all vices "

Frowning at the duality of personality as a major hindrance to the integrity of individuals, he harped on the relevance of portraying good Christian faith amongst university staff which he said was key to enhancing forthrightness.

He said: "Our faith can only have relevance when we bring it to the work place. In the church we are dancing and singing and we look holy but in our work place; we are something different. This duality of personality is the nemesis of integrity"

The interdenominational service which had in attendance the Vice Chancellor, Professor Florence Obi,  DVC Academics, Prof  Angela Oyo-Ita, Registrar, Amb. Gabriel Egbe, Directors, academic and non academic staff and students, featured praise worship, choir ministration, intercessory prayers for management and the country.
