CRSHIA in-house training: Make history as progenitors of UHC in CRS, Betta Edu tasks personnel

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Betta Edu has charged staff of the Cross River State Health Insurance Agency(CRSHIA) to remain resolute in achieving the Agency's mandate of entrenching Universal Health Coverage, and engrave their names in gold as progenitors of such feat in the State.


Dr. Edu gave the charge in her keynote address presented at the in-house training of staff of CRSHIA, held recently in the Conference Hall of the Agency.


The Health Commissioner said that with UHC taking a front burner in international discourse, Cross River State is on course towards achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good health and well-being) through the provision of quality, affordable and accessible health care for the citizenry.


The proactive Health Commissioner lauded the CRSHIA for its commitment which has been palpable  especially at the recent mass enrollment exercise across the State, while urging the Agency's staff to up the ante in line with the present administration's determination of provide health care for all.


Speaking earlier, the Director-General of the Agency, Sir Godwin Iyala stated that the in-house training was to hone his staff's capacity for the task of achieving UHC in the State.


Sir Iyala commended the synergy between stakeholders in Health Insurance project, adding that the entire team is at the threshold of history.


The CRSHIA DG thanked all the resource persons for availing themselves to impart knowledge, which he posited will go a long way to improve capacity of his staff. He also urged beneficiaries of the training to make the most of high-octane lectures and bring such knowledge to bear through improved productivity in the discharge of their duty.


The event which featured highly expository and academic tutorials had Sir Godwin Iyala take on the topic 'CRSHIS: From Conception to Realisation'; the Director General of the Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Janet Ekpenyong did Justice to the topic 'Service Delivery as an Elixir to the Success of Health Insurance'.


Erudite technocrat, Ntufam Peter Ojie talked on 'Interpersonal Relationship'; the Special Adviser on Health, Dr. David Ushie delivered lectures on 'Understanding Leadership and Leadership Style, while Mr. Emeka Obi, an Insurance mogul, harped on 'Service Delivery and Job Etiquette.


'Promoting Vision, Mission, Value and Goals of CRSHIS' was handled by Mr. Joseph Omieh; Mrs. Beatrice Akonjom dwelled on 'Team Building'; Barrister Amajama Eneji spoke on 'Legal Implications of our Actions as Drivers of CRSHIS'; and marketing strategies like branding, publicity, reward structure and quality of service were handled by Dr. John Ekanem, Mr. Linus Asu, among others, to cap a rich list of lectures and resource persons at the event.

Engr. Jerome Egbe Visits NSCDC Command for Strategic Partnership on Public Utilities

  The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. Dr. Jerome Egbe, KSM, today, October 8, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, Mr. Brown Charles, in Calabar.  The visit centered on establishing a strategic partnership to protect and secure public utilities across the state from vandals and criminal elements. UNICROSS ACTING VC EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER DAMAGE OF UNIVERSITY STUCTURES AFTER RAINSTORM IN CALABAR
