National Social Safety Net Programme: C'River Trains 108 Youths As Enumerators In 18 LGAs

 



Cross River State Government in partnership with the World Bank has trained one hundred and eight youths as enumerators for the Social safety net programme.


The State Commissioner for International Development Cooperation, Dr Inyang Asibong while flagging off the traning of the enumerators exercise in Calabar ,said their responsibilities was to  locate and identify the very poor and vulnerable citizens across the state.



*Asibong*  said the National Social Safety Net Coordinating Office (NASSCO) will supervise the 

enumerators who will move around communities  to identify the visibly poor and vulnerable citizens  inline with the State Government  policy under *Professor Ben Ayade*.


She urged all the stakeholders ,especially the local Government Chairmen to take ownership of the process and building of the social register.


"The  National Social Safety Net Coordinating Office (NASSCO) is a World Bank project in partnership with the Federal and State Government  to train youths as enumerators towards carrying out the given tasks of putting smiles on the faces of the poor and vulnerable households in Cross River  State.


"Your diligent work can only guarantee this noble task by being dedicated to your assigned duties" she added.


The Cross River State Coordinator of NASSCO , *Mr. Chris Anake*, on his part, assured that all the poor and vulnerable households in the State, will be identified, validated and selected for different interventions.


The  Permanent Secretary, Ministry of International Development Cooperation,(MIDC) *Mr. Akwaji Timothy*, harped on the need to rapidly increase the number of identified poor and vulnerable households across the State. 


He said the funds for interventions like the Youths Public Workfare scheme, the Conditional Cash Transfer and the N-CARES project will can only be accessed based on the number of beneficiaries in the State Social Register.

BREAKING NEWS: Youths of Ikot Ansa Nab Vandals Destroying Public Utilities, Hand Over to Authorities for Prosecution

Engr. Egbe Commends Governor Otu for Flag-Off of Subsidized Mini Tractors Distribution
