However, having read the comments that followed the post by Onoyom, we consider it necessary to respond—not because Rt. Hon. The leadership of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has impeached its Chairman, Effiom Edet, over allegations of gross financial misconduct, high-handedness, incompetence, abuse of office and lack of accountability. Edet was removed from office on Wednesday 2nd September 2026, following a majority motion at a long-awaited meeting of the council held at the IPAC state secretariat, with 16 state party chairmen in attendance. The members reportedly questioned Edet’s leadership style, accusing his administration of operating in secrecy and failing to adequately consult other political party chairmen on decisions affecting the council. One of the issues raised was his recent meeting with officials of CRISSA, during which he was alleged to have unilaterally endorsed what members described as exorbitant fees for opposition political parties seeking to paste campaign banners and posters ahead of the 2027 general elections.
