WORKING VISIT: LIONS REGION 4 & 5 PROJECTS EXCITE DISTRICT 404A2 LEADERSHIP

The leadership of District 4404A2 Nigeria of the Lions Clubs International has hailed Region 4 & 5 for embarking on ‘laudable projects’ that have direct bearing on its immediate environment and society in general.

Speaking recently during a two-day working visit to the Regions, the District Governor, District 404A2 Nigeria, Lion Sunday Eloma said the visit to the Region, aimed at inspecting ongoing projects, as well as  commissioning completed ones, have left him very enthusiastic about the positive impact such projects will have on the people.

“The projects undertaken by the Regions are a true manifestation of what God can do even in this period of the corona virus pandemic. We have seen very exciting projects. And I ask myself: how did these Clubs come about such large community-empowering projects? It is unimaginable what good these projects will do for the people,” the District Governor enthused.

The renovation of a health care facility, and a borehole, with overhead tanks and generator to power the health centre and supply water for the overall benefit of the immediate locality; we have seen distribution of school desks to Pinn Margaret Secondary School; and the e-Library, a gigantic project at the State Library premises, another health post at Ewa Ekeng street, were some of the projects highlighted by the District Governor that have left him in awe.

Lion Eloma further posited that the Lions Club’s intervention of health facilities aligns with the mandate given by the Minister of Health at the commissioning of the Diabetes Oncology Centre at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, when he made an appeal on the improvement of the primary health care system nationwide.

When asked of the challenges posed by the corona virus pandemic and the #EndSars crisis, Lion Eloma said: “those challenges helped awakened the consciousness of Lions and well-meaning Nigerians who are devoted to uplifting the wellbeing of our communities,” while paraphrasing the axiomatic Lionism parlance “Where there is a need, there is a Lion,” to buttress his submission.

The District Governor relished with pride that, in line with his administration’s dogma of “Succeeding Together,” his service year has provided all Lions the ample opportunity of rendering service to humanity, as well as individual and collective successes.

“The bedrock of Lionism is team spirit. Every Lion in District 404A2 Nigeria has had an opportunity to render service; keyed into the team spirit, we are doing exceedingly well. The projects undertaken by the District this service year alone have been enormous. There have been interventions in the area of infrastructural development/renovation in the health and education sectors, provision of academic materials for students, as well as manpower development and empowerment in the agro-base value chain across the entire District,” the DG recounted, as he called on well-meaning Nigerians who are given to service to identify with Lions Clubs International as a bigger platform where people come together, putting little resources together to provide a broader spectrum of service to an unimaginably larger communities.

Lending credence to the District Governor’s submissions, the First Vice District Governor, District 404A2 Nigeria, Lion Lynda Odu-Okpeseyi stated that the District is excited at the impressive projects undertaken by Region 4 & 5, describing them as “worthy of emulation.

She maintained that projects renovation of health centres, some of which were vandalized by the #EndSars protest, would in no small measure cushion the negative effect that arose from such ugly incidence; while donation of seats and writing/reading materials and construction of e-Library will enhance teaching and learning as well as deepen research and scholarship for students in the area. She lauded the Regions for performing creditably well within the year under review.
