In line with the whole school model approach, The Cross River State Government has recently commissioned two new 9-classroom blocks, comprising of library, lavatories and offices at St. Theresa’s Primary School, Odukpani and St. John’s Primary School, Akamkpa Local Government Areas (LGAs).

Commissioning the projects, the Executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mr. Victor Odo congratulated members of the communities for being beneficiaries of the whole school model approach, which he reiterated was to ensure a more conducive environment for effective teaching and learning.

While commending Governor Ben Ayade’s efforts, Mr Odo called on members of the community and staff of the school to compliment government’s efforts by protecting school facilities against theft and vandalism. He added that the only way to attract more facilities from government is by safeguarding and proper utilization of existing ones.

Extending gratitude to the Board and the State Government, the Village Head/ Administrative Secretary, Ntufam’s Council, Akamkpa, HRH, Ntufam Sylvanus Eyo said the new nine classroom block will be an added advantage to the school and the community.

He pledged the community’s support in safeguarding the school infrastructure against criminal elements.

The Head Teacher, St. Theresa’s Primary School, Odukpani LGA, Dr. Patience Akwa, said the new school structure will help to assuage the accommodation challenge the school has been experiencing.

The State is adopting a whole school approach and gradually deviating from constructing six class room blocks without toilets, library or offices for the teachers and pupils.

With the whole school approach, pupils and staff can have a more conducive environment for effective teaching and learning to take place.
