UNICAL 43rd Matriculation: "Our Administration is Determined to Enhance Your Welfare" VC Assures Freshers

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar,Prof. Florence Obi, has restated her administration's commitment  to deliberately improve the welfare of students on campus.


 The First female Vice Chancellor of the institution disclosed this in her matricuation address held at Abraham Ordiah stadium in Calabar on Friday.


Welcoming  students to the, " home of creative minds and distinctive centre for shaping future leaders", she expressed happiness at the clement weather which nature has bestowed on the administration in her first matricuation as Vice Chancellor of the 2nd generation university which is in sync with the mood of the occasion.


"Let me specially welcome our academic babies, freshmen and women, parents, friends and relations and numerous well wishers that have converged to witness this event and share in the joy of our children who are about to be admitted formally into studentship of  this great university"


Highlighting the institution's motor which is hinged on knowledge for service as a basis for refining freshers to showcase their competencies in the world after graduation.


  She maintained that, " the university of Calabar  over the years has been providing competencies which some students have utilised in making positive contributions to the society".


The VC also expressed gratitude to the visitor of the University, President Muhammadu Buhari, 12th and 13th Governing Councils for contributing towards the growth of the institution.


 " This is the first matriculation I am presiding over in my capacity as VC of this great university.  Let me use the opportunity to once again thank the visitor, president Muhammadu Buhari and members of the 12th governing council for finding me worthy to serve in this capacity. I  equally appreciate the 13th governing council members for their contributions towards the development and growth of the university"


Following a screening exercise where a total of 47,149 candidates made the university of Calabar their first choice and scored 160 and above in the Joint Admission and Matricuation Examination Board. 


She posited that her administration would continue to strive towards increasing the carrying capacity to accommodate more candidates in the future because only, "11,011 students were admitted" representing 65 percent science related and 35 percent arts, education and humanities.


While urging students to ensure strict compliance with the method of paying school charges in the bank. She also  advised them to embrace the current online registration policy of the institution irrespective of the difficulties experienced as new students which would be outweighed by the advantages associated with the method in the future.


Reiterating the policy of the administration on the 75 percent attendance, she cautioned matriculating students against loitering and engaging in other vices that may truncate their success.

Engr. Egbe Commends Governor Otu for Flag-Off of Subsidized Mini Tractors Distribution

​UNICROSS Announces 2026/2027 Post-UTME Screening, Introduces 19 New Programmes

​The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has officially announced the commencement of its First Choice Admission Screening Exercise for the 2026/2027 academic session . The university has also unveiled 19 newly approved undergraduate academic programmes across its campuses. ​According to an official notice signed by the University Registrar, Dr. (Mrs) Catherine Ndifon Osai, eligible candidates include UTME applicants who chose UNICROSS as their First Choice and scored 150 and above in the 2026 UTME.
