UNICAL VC commiserates with Qua Nation over death of monarch

 



The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Banku Obi, has commiserated with the Qua Nation, over the demise of the Ndidem of the Quas, His Royal Majesty, Ndidem (Dr.) Patrick Inok Oqua Agbor.


Speaking during a condolence visit to the palace of the Ndidem of the Quas, the Vice Chancellor described the late Monarch as a friend, brother and ruler who has left indelible footprints on the sands of time.


While describing his demise as a ‘great loss’ to the Qua nation and the University, she said, he lived an exemplary life and impacted positively on the lives of his subjects.


The VC, who further extolled the virtues of the late Royal Father, described him as man with a ‘heart of gold’ and an accomplished academic who upon retirement from the service of the University came back to impart knowledge to the students.


She said that the late Monarch would be missed by not only the Qua nation but the University community, adding that, his contributions to the development of the institution will not be forgotten in a hurry.


‘’His death remains a big shock to us because he was one of us. We are here to express our condolence with the entire qua nation and we pray that the Almighty God gives him a befitting place in his bosom.


"As you commence the process of committing him to mother earth, you can count on our support," he said.


In his response, the current Ndidem of the Quas, Ndidem Eta Bassey Eteta 111, thanked the Vice Chancellor and other principal officers of the University for coming to condole with the Qua nation.


He said his predecessor, during his reign, was loved by his subjects, maintaining that his presence was highly felt by everyone because he brought peace and unity to the qua nation.


"He was effective in whatever he did. He did well for the Qua nation and Calabar as a whole," he said.


The Vice Chancellor was accompanied on the condolence visit by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Angela Oyo-ita, the Registrar, Mr Jammy Egbe, Director of Audit, Mr Nicolas, Acting Bursar of the University, Mr Joseph Odum, University Librarian, Prof. (Mrs) Nkoyo Edem, among others.

Engr. Jerome Egbe Visits NSCDC Command for Strategic Partnership on Public Utilities

  The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. UNICROSS ACTING VC EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER DAMAGE OF UNIVERSITY STUCTURES AFTER RAINSTORM IN CALABAR
