Teachers Continuous Training Institute, (TCTI) newly established by Cross River State government has conducted a subject based test and digital proficiency assessment for teachers who applied to be employed into the Demonstration school of the institute.
Speaking on the exercise, conducted recently, the Director General of the institute, Prof. Taoheed Adedoja explained that 471 sat for the subject based test but 241 were invited for the digital proficiency examination.
According to Adedoja,the results of both will be used to employ teachers who will be impacting new digital knowledge for the students of the Demonstration Secondary School.
TCTI he said, is blazing the trail in the country with the digital proficiency test for secondary school teachers which is inline with the global best practices.
"The aim is to be able to recruit teachers with skills relevant to the 21st century."

Prof. Adedoja said.
Adding, “any teacher anywhere in the world that is not digitally literate cannot provide the best for today’s students who may have access to unlimited information more than their teachers.”
The Director General noted that TCTI is the vision of the Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade and assured that with the set standards at the Training Institute, Biase, parents will be guaranteed of quality teachers to guide their children into the 21st century digital economy.
He insisted that “This is the first of such initiative in the history of selecting teachers in Nigeria by assessing their digital proficiency and skills.
