CROSS RIVER PEACE CORPS COMMANDANT PAYS COURTESY CALL ON APC GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE

The Cross River State Commandant of the Peace Corps of Nigeria, Patriot (Dr.) Okweche,  Dominic Odey has visited the Gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, popularly known as "Sweet Prince" at his campaign Office in Calabar.


The Commandant said that, Senator Otu in the past identified with the Peace Corps while he was in House of Representatives and even when he became a Senator, he never shut his doors against the Organization. He was accessible, reliable and the people felt his impact with his various empowerment programmes, quality legislations and creation of job opportunities.


It is evident that the APC candidate, Sweet Prince is gaining popularity in the State. The visit becomes necessary in solidarity to frankly showcase the availability of the multitudes of personnel the Organization posses across the 18 Local Government Areas in the State. 


The Commandant reminded Sweet Prince of the contributions of the Peace Corps in the State in 2020 during the peak of Covid-19, the attraction of sewing of Peace Corps Uniform in the Country by Cross River Garment Factory, partcipation during Calabar Carnival, and other voluntary services which the Governor, Sen. Benedict Ayade has acknowledged and given supports to the Organization.


Responding, Senator Otu expressed satisfaction on the activities of Peace Corps in the State. He said, "I have been following your activities, I'm aware of some of your challenges and in no distance time, everything will be put in place". Your good works in the State are visible and need to be promoted, he added.


"I won't take this visit lightly because it is a collective commitment for a better Cross River State". By God's grace, the people will reap the dividence of Democracy.
