2023 Governorship of Cross River State NOT A CHILD'S PLAY; Prince Otu unveils manifesto

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu has unveiled a policy agenda he will implement if elected in March 2023.
Otu released his policy agenda tagged ‘People-First’, comprised: Agriculture and commodity value chain, Infrastructure, Transportation, Roads and street infrastructure, Water, information and communication Technologies, Automation and Modern Technologies, Environment, Education; Mineral Resources, Education, Health, Land Administration and Management, Human Capacity Development and Humanitarian Affairs.
Otu while addressing Journalists at NUJ secretariat Calabar appreciated the efforts of past administrations starting from Udoakaha J. Esuene, Paul Omu, Tunde Elegbede, Clement Isong, Donald Etiebet, Daniel Archibong, I in Princewill, Ernest Atta, Clement Ebri, Ibrahim Kefas, Gregory Agbonemi, Umar Faoruk Ahmed, Christopher Osondo, Donald Duke, Liyal Imoke and Ben Ayade.
He noted that his administration shall scale up the agro-revolution of Ayade administration and he shall ensure agriculture becomes maximally profitable to the people. The government will aggressively push for and support the mechanization of farming in Cross River while creating an enabling environment for investments in agricultural business.
"See that all previously built industries work maximally for the benefit of our people. We shall implement an efficient model of management, to ensure these industries run sustainably and profitably. We plan to expand the existing industries while building new ones for the economic well-being of our people".
Sen. Otu said that alongside his running mate, Rt. Hon. Peter, they would make Cross state State peaceful, where citizens can move without harassment, by criminal elements.
"Our people want a State where the Government takes security as a serious business and top priority, our people want a safe state where there will be no instances of kidnapping and threats to lives and properties".
According to him, our people want to live in peace, pursue their legitimate businesses and have access to needed infrastructure and social services. "The Governorship of Cross River State is not a child's play, it is a call for sincere service and I do not take it lightly, I shall give my best with utmost integrity, humility and sincerity". Otu urged everyone beyond party lines and ethnicity to join his running mate Rt. Hon. Peter Odey pursued the dream of people first and make it a reality.

Engr. Jerome Egbe Visits NSCDC Command for Strategic Partnership on Public Utilities

  The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. Dr. Jerome Egbe, KSM, today, October 8, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, Mr. Brown Charles, in Calabar.  The visit centered on establishing a strategic partnership to protect and secure public utilities across the state from vandals and criminal elements. During the meeting, Engr. Egbe emphasized the importance of safeguarding all critical public infrastructure and ensuring close collaboration between the Ministry of Public Utilities and the NSCDC in achieving the Governor’s vision for a sustainable and secure state. UNICROSS ACTING VC EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER DAMAGE OF UNIVERSITY STUCTURES AFTER RAINSTORM IN CALABAR

  The Acting Vice Chancellor of University of Cross River State, Professor Francisca Bassey, has expressed concern over the gravity of damage of the University's structures recorded in the wake of the rainstorm which swept through Calabar city yesterday, the 7th of May, 2025.  The Acting Vice Chancellor who was represented by the Director of Administration,  Professor Tom Ojikpong, expressed this concern when she led members of the University's management team on an on-the-spot inspection of the affected buildings in Calabar campus of the University.
