The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Banku Obi, has commended the outgoing Commander of NNS ViCTORY, Commodore Ifeanyi Okpala, for the excellent working relationship he cultivated between the command and the institution.
Prof Obi made the commendation in an interactive session with pressmen shortly after the farewell parade organised by the command in honour of the outgoing commander at the NNS VICTORY parade ground in Calabar.
The VC described Commodore Okpala as a veritable professional who discharged his duties creditably and was very responsive to security issues affecting the university.
She lauded the proactiveness of the command under his watch and the gains recorded in combating the menace posed by kidnappers along the waterways.
In his farewell address, Commodore Ifeanyi Okpala appreciated officers of the command for their cooperation and sustained presence in its maritime designated areas which assisted in the destruction of several militants and kidnappers' camps and the recovery of persons captured.
Commodore Okpala said that the holistic and collective efforts of the command under his watch also contributed to the success story of “Operation Akpakwu and the foiling of several smuggling and banditry activities.
He tasked the officers of the command to stick to the core values of the Navy which are integrity, professionalism and teamwork and also extend unwavering loyalty to his successor.
The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. Dr. Jerome Egbe, KSM, today, October 8, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, Mr. Brown Charles, in Calabar.
