Cross River State Commissioner for Health, Dr Janet Ekpenyong and champion of girls and women empowerment, Dr Janet Ekpenyong has been recognized among prominent women and achievers in the country as one among 100 most influential women professionals in the country .
The young and enterprising highly rated under 40 medical doctor cum politician is one among 6 distinguished Cross Riverians who have advanced their relevance both in the private and public sector of their endeavours and contributed to the advancement of the girl child and women development both within and outside the state.
Dr Ekpenyong who is widely celebrated for her ingenuity and selfless disposition is regarded among the most effective and rising political icons in Cross River State who in the recent years have represented the state in various foral fostering progressiveness for women and the girl child.
Dr Ekpenyong in a move to encourage women participation in politics and leadership roles have enrolled women and girls in various skill acquisition programs in order to create a sense of self reliance and independence at all times.

In her days as Director General of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Janet Ekpenyong created a level playing ground by nominating more women for leadership roles encouraging their all round development.

The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. Dr. Jerome Egbe, KSM, today, October 8, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, Mr. Brown Charles, in Calabar. The visit centered on establishing a strategic partnership to protect and secure public utilities across the state from vandals and criminal elements. During the meeting, Engr. Egbe emphasized the importance of safeguarding all critical public infrastructure and ensuring close collaboration between the Ministry of Public Utilities and the NSCDC in achieving the Governor’s vision for a sustainable and secure state.
