Chairman uncovers illegal mining sites

The Chairman of Cross River State Illegal Mining Task Force, on Saturday, said it has uncovered illegal mining sites, located at Uyanga, Akwaibami, and Ojoi villages, all in Akamkpa Local Government Area.



This took place at about 11 am when the Illegal Mining taskforce led by the Chairman, Engr. Ukam Ngwu Ngwu visited the sites where the operator of caterpillars, suspected to be used by the miners, to perpetuate the evil act was captured.


The Chairman in a statement, said the illegal miners were not caught but the operator of the caterpillars noted that he will come and see the Government on Monday for documentation with the committee. 


“My committee will not rest on its activities until all illegal mining sites are discovered"- Chairman 


He warned Cross Riverians to desist from mining illegally and that anyone caught from now, will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

    This information is not complete, What mineral are they mining. Who is behind this activity, where is this mineral taken to, who is involved in the trade and for how long has this been going on. Hand that 'operator' to law enforcement agent if we are serious

BREAKING NEWS: Youths of Ikot Ansa Nab Vandals Destroying Public Utilities, Hand Over to Authorities for Prosecution

  In a combined effort to curb the rampant vandalism of public utilities in Cross River State, the youth leader of Ikot Ansa, Prince, Victor Otu Iso JR, alongside his community, successfully apprehended criminals involved in the destruction of vital public infrastructure.
