Abiati Community Raises Alarm over Imposition of Elder Augustine Ekpe Itita As Village Head By Etinyin Etim Okon Edet, Chairman Cross River State Traditional Ruler's Council of Chiefs


Following the announcement made by Etinyin Etim Okon Edet, Chairman Cross River State Traditional Ruler's Council of Chiefs dated 13th January 2024 declaring one Elder, Augustine Ekpe Itita as the Village Head of Abiati Community in Ojuk South of Akamkpa Local Government Area in Cross River State, Abiati village Council under the leadership of Ntufam Dominic Effiong Bassey, acting village head of Abiati Community hereby inform the general public that Ntufam Dominic Effiong Bassey remains, the substantial acting village head of Abiati community.


Judicial notice should be taken about the following ;



1. High Court Judgment delivered by His Lordship, Hon. Justice Emilia Ibok on the 26th of July, 2018 in favour of Ntufam Dominic Effiong Bassey and others.


2. Ruling delivered by His Lordship, Hon. Justice Edem Ita Koofreh on the 19th day of September 2021 placing an interlocutory injunction retraining Etinyin Etim Okon Edet, Chairman Cross River State Traditional Ruler's Council of Chiefs from capping or issuing  certificate of recognition to Elder Augustine Ekpe Itita and also restraining Elder Augustine Ekpe Itita  and his cohorts from holding meetings and parading himself (Augustine Ekpe Itita) as the village head of Abiati village pending the determination of the matter before the Honourable Court.


3. That Etinyin Etim Okon Edet, Chairman Cross River State Traditional Ruler's Council of Chiefs is one of the defendants and respondents in suit No. HC/193/2021. He can't take the role of the Court nor has the locus standing to pronounce Augustine Ekpe Itita as Village Head of the Abiati community. He can't be a judge in his case.


4. That the action of Etinyin Okon Edet, Chairman Cross River State Traditional Ruler's Council of Chiefs on the 13th of January 2024 is an abuse of Judiciary and court proceedings.


5. That the certificate of recognition in Augustine Ekpe Itita's disposal is fake and should be disregarded".


6. That any person or group of persons that does any business or transaction with Elder Augustine Ekpe Itita and Etinyin Etim Okon Edet, Chairman Cross River State Traditional Ruler's Council of Chiefs in the name of Abiati community does that on his or her own risk. BREAKING NEWS: Youths of Ikot Ansa Nab Vandals Destroying Public Utilities, Hand Over to Authorities for Prosecution

  In a combined effort to curb the rampant vandalism of public utilities in Cross River State, the youth leader of Ikot Ansa, Prince, Victor Otu Iso JR, alongside his community, successfully apprehended criminals involved in the destruction of vital public infrastructure.
