UNICROSS ALUMNI INAUGURATES BOT



The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) Alumni Association today the 12th day of January, 2024 inaugurated members of her Board of Trustees (BoT) to serve the next four years tenure.



The occasion which took place at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Center Calabar was well attended by members of the National Executive Council (NEC ), Stakeholders and members of the Association. 



In his opening remarks, the National President of the Association, Dr. Inyali Peter who attended the occassion virtually welcome all the attendees and newly appointed BoT members to the event. He noted that members of the BoT were carefully selected among more than twenty thousand members of the Association to help foster the peace and development of the Association. "This is not a money making venture but an opportunity to render service to the Association and humanity at large. "I charge you all to always give us your maximum support, see how you can restore peace and unity among members of the Association".


Highlight of the event was the administration of Oath of office to the newly appointed members of the BoT by the National Legal Adviser (NLA) Barr. Romeo Ojong in line with the Constitution of the Association as amended 2023. Barr. Ojong educated the BoT members on the importance of oath taking which he maintained is to hold public office holders accountable at all times to the responsibilities accorded them.


In his acceptance speech, Barr. Dr. Ukam Ngwu, the newly sworn~in Chairman of the BoT promise to do his very best to ensure the peace, progress,  growth and stability of the Association. In his words, the BoT Chairman assured that "The Association must succeed because there is absolutely nothing we can not do together. I am willing to work hand-in-gloves with the National President, the NEC and entire members of the Association to bring about the needed peace, stability and change we all desire. With the careful selection and competence of members in the current BoT who have no reason nor excuse not to succeed. We are therefore ready and eager to show that Mr. President and the NEC made no mistakes in appointing us to serve as BoT" he remarked.


The occasion witnessed the formal handing-over mantle of office from the immediate past BoT Chairman, Elder (Amb.) Eno Eno Thompson to the incumbent Chairman Barr. Dr. Ukam Ngwu in a grant style. During his handover speech, Elder Thompson expressed his heart felt gratitude for the privellage given him to serve the Association as the Pioneer BoT Chairman and later his return to the office after the demise of Elder Gabriel Otinya. "I feel very happy today after a long period of service, finally the change has come". He urges the incumbent BoT Chairman to be God fearing and ensure that he invites God into their presence as that is the only way he can succeed. "Please when you see the President making/taking a wrong decision do not hesitate to  inform him and God will bless u richly" he admonished.


The occasion was brought to an end by Engr.Ekpenyong Richard, the Inauguration Committee Chairperson who in his vote of thanks appreciated the National President, NEC and members of the Association for the wonderful privilege given to serve them and promised that they wouldn't disappoint the Association.


Notable among attendeees at the occasion were the National Secretary of the Association,  Comrade Njang Ndoma, National Public Relations Dr. Peace Egbai, National Director of Projects Engr. Edward Asu and Engr.Michael Enu who is the National Director of Employment. Also in attendance was the immediate pass Chairman of the Board of Trustees Elder Ambassador Eno Eno Thompson and other  notable Stakeholders of the Association. The event ended with outpouring of advises and exaltation from stakeholders and members present.
