In his speech, Dr. Edet highlighted the university's commitment to not only imparting knowledge but also encouraging research, intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and personal growth. He underscored the necessity for students to manage their time effectively, warning against procrastination and stressing personal responsibility and ownership over their academic and personal lives.

Dr. Edet also advised the new students to form meaningful friendships, emphasizing the long-term impact of choosing friends who contribute positively to one's growth and happiness. He said, "Show me your friend and I will tell you who you are," encouraging students to seek out companions who inspire and elevate them rather than those who merely provide temporary social validation.

Furthermore, Dr. Edet urged the students to maintain their spiritual lives, reminding them of the importance of prayer and citing Jeremiah 29:11 to reinforce the idea that divine plans are inherently beneficial and aimed at providing hope and a future.

The ceremony also featured the registrar, Lady Mary E. Dan-Abia, who administered the declaration of loyalty to both Arthur Jarvis University and the nation, underscoring the institution's commitment to producing responsible and patriotic citizens.

One of the highlights of the event was the recognition of distinguished Nigerians and scholars who have made significant contributions to the university. These included donations of books to the university library by Dr. Arit Archibong, Dr. Christiana Ekpe, Dr. Joseph Ekpe Edet, Dr. E. E. Alobo, Dr. Paul Ibiala, and Prof. Dada Jacob, which were greatly appreciated for their role in enhancing the university’s educational resources.

Ekpenyong, Assistant Superintendent of Immigration representing the Comptroller of NIS, Cross River State. Other notable attendees included Oseni Ibrahim, Deputy State Commander of Operation and Training of the NDLEA, and Mrs. Mercy Bassey, NDLEA Deputy Commander of Cross River State, among others.
