Today, Hon. Cyril James Omini celebrates the one-year anniversary of his tenure as the representative of Yakurr 1 State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly. Reflecting on his first year in office, Omini expressed profound gratitude and highlighted numerous achievements across various sectors, emphasizing transparency, accountability, and dedication to his constituents' welfare.


Legislative Contributions


Hon. Omini spearheaded key legislative motions, including:


Urgent evacuation of water drainages within Calabar Metropolis to prevent flooding.


Retrieval of state-owned heavy-duty equipment to ensure proper resource utilization.


Revocation of the concessioning of Cross River State House in Abuja for better resource management 


Healthcare Initiatives

Omini provided ₦1,000,000 for urgent medical treatment for a constituent and partnered with Angels Clinic in Ugep to offer free medical care. These actions significantly eased the financial burden on residents and improved access to quality healthcare.


Essential Services

Key projects included:


Commissioning a Motorized Pipeborne Water Project in Eduma village, Ugep.


Donating solar panel street lights to Ugep General Hospital and Community Secondary School.


Contributing ₦10,000,000 for the construction of an UltraModern Town Hall in Ijom.


Youth Empowerment and Economic Development


Omini addressed unemployment by offering financial assistance to NYSC members, donating motorcycles and cars to individuals, and providing significant cash grants to women-owned businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs.


Educational Support


Omini fully covered JAMB registration costs for 518 constituents and provided educational support funds to law graduates. He also paid school fees for over 170 children, ensuring access to quality education.


Community Engagement


Omini maintained active engagement with constituents, highlighted by a historic town hall meeting. His dedication earned him the "Best Performing Member of the 10th Cross River State House of Assembly" award and a Chieftaincy title from the Ijom Traditional Rulers Council.

Engr. Jerome Egbe Visits NSCDC Command for Strategic Partnership on Public Utilities

  The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. Dr. Jerome Egbe, KSM, today, October 8, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, Mr. Brown Charles, in Calabar.  The visit centered on establishing a strategic partnership to protect and secure public utilities across the state from vandals and criminal elements.
