Governor Otu Celebrated for Revitalizing Golf in Cross River State

 



Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has received widespread acclaim for his efforts to revamp golf in the state, a move seen as a significant boost to sports and tourism development.


Lady Anne Ene Ita, Chairperson of the Calabar Golf Club Project Committee, praised the governor’s foresight in recognizing golf as a tool for both leisure and global networking. Speaking in Calabar, she described golf as not just a sport but an avenue for healthy relaxation and international connections. “Governor Otu’s dedication to harnessing golf’s potential is truly inspiring,” she remarked.


Lady Ene Ita, a retired federal permanent secretary and the Female Captain of the Calabar Golf Club, reaffirmed the project committee’s determination to deliver exceptional results. “With the state government’s invaluable support, we are working diligently to meet the highest standards in every aspect of this project,” she assured.


Project consultant Engr. Francis Archibong outlined the progress made so far, noting the extensive renovations aimed at elevating the Calabar Golf Club to international standards. Key upgrades include the near-completion of over 900 meters of perimeter fencing, comprehensive clubhouse renovations involving roofing, electrical installations, painting, and the creation of a new reception area.


Additional improvements include the construction of a new gatehouse, a caddies’ shed, and a modern parking facility, all advancing on schedule.


This marks the first significant investment by the state government in the Calabar Golf Club since its establishment in 1991, underscoring Governor Otu’s commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure and tourism in Cross River State.


Golf enthusiasts and stakeholders have hailed the initiative as a transformative effort, expressing excitement about its potential to redefine the state’s recreational and sporting landscape.
