NSIP Focal Person, Associate Prof. Esther Archibong, Participates in UN Social Development Event in Abuja

Associate Professor Esther Archibong, the Special Adviser and Focal Person for the National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP) in Cross River State, participated in the Regional Session of the United Nations Commission for Social Development (CSocD) held at the NBA House, Plot 1101 Muhammadu Buhari Way, Central Area, Abuja.

The high-profile event, organized by the United Nations Commission for Social Development, focused on the theme: “Social and Economic Dimensions for Strengthening Community Resilience: Accelerating Government and Civil Society Collaboration for Social Development.” It brought together government officials, policymakers, academics, and civil society leaders to discuss strategies for improving social welfare and economic empowerment.

Representing Cross River State, Associate Prof. Archibong played a key role in discussions on the impact of NSIP initiatives in enhancing community resilience and reducing poverty. She highlighted the state governor's efforts in leveraging social investment programs to uplift vulnerable populations, foster youth empowerment, and create sustainable economic opportunities.

His Excellency, the Governor of Cross River State, was the Special Guest at the event and was ably represented by the Commissioner for Social Welfare and Social Development, Bishop Prof. Mrs. Margaret Ene-Ita.

The session served as a platform for identifying key challenges in social development across Nigeria and exploring practical solutions. It also facilitated knowledge exchange on poverty reduction, social justice, and inclusive development, aligning with Nigeria’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Her participation underscored the crucial role of NSIP in strengthening government-civil society collaboration to drive impactful social policies at both state and national levels.

Engr. Jerome Egbe Visits NSCDC Command for Strategic Partnership on Public Utilities

  The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. Dr. Jerome Egbe, KSM, today, October 8, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, Mr. Brown Charles, in Calabar.  The visit centered on establishing a strategic partnership to protect and secure public utilities across the state from vandals and criminal elements.
