Two Years of Progress: CRSCF Commends Governor Otu’s Reforms, Achievements

The Cross River State Consultative Forum (CRSCF) has extended heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, as he marks his second anniversary as Governor of Cross River State, commending what it described as “two years of purposeful and visionary leadership.”

In a statement signed by the Forum’s Chairman, Hon. Eyo Nsa Ekpo, Esq., and Secretary, Julius Ochim Okpotu, the CRSCF praised the Governor for his strides in infrastructure, civil service reform, social welfare, rural development, and institutional transformation.

"Governor Otu has demonstrated a clear vision, compassionate governance, and an unwavering commitment to the development and unity of our dear state," the statement read. "His inclusive approach to leadership is reshaping Cross River’s development trajectory."

The Forum highlighted the administration’s notable achievements in economic reforms, particularly the 60.6% increase in the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), which rose from N20.5 billion in 2022 to N36.3 billion by May 2024. The Governor’s emphasis on transparency, they noted, earned Cross River State a $4 million grant under the World Bank-backed Disbursement Linked Indicators (DLI) framework.

Also lauded was the digitization of the Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) process, which has reduced land titling to between 21 and 42 days, thereby empowering citizens with accessible and economically viable property documentation.

On the infrastructure front, the CRSCF acknowledged the restoration of electricity to Akpabuyo and Bakassi Local Government Areas after over a decade of darkness. It also hailed efforts to revitalize Calabar’s urban sanitation and the enactment of the Senior Citizens Centre Law, which has established wellness centres to serve elderly residents across the state.

Further praise was given to the administration’s launch of a ₦30 billion commercial agriculture development fund and its recent award as the Best State in Digital Innovation by the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA).

"The Cross River State Consultative Forum salutes these commendable efforts and urges the administration to sustain its people-centered policies across all communities," the statement concluded. "We remain firmly in support of the Governor’s ‘People First’ agenda and look forward to more progress in the years ahead."
