UNICROSS Postgraduate President, Comrade Ewelu Otu Okoi, Celebrates His Only Sister in Emotional Birthday Tribute, Vows Not to Marry Unless He Finds a Woman Like Her

The President of the Postgraduate Students’ Government (PGSG) at the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Comrade Ewelu Otu Okoi, has stirred admiration and emotion across social circles following a moving birthday tribute to his only sister, Mrs. Blessing Etim Abam, on July 21, 2025.

In a powerful and personal message, Comrade Ewelu celebrated his sister not just as a sibling, but as a pillar of strength, a role model, and a mother figure who played a defining role in shaping his life.

His tribute was filled with expressions of gratitude, deep reflection, and admiration, drawing attention to the values she instilled in him.

"Happy Birthday to the only sister I have and the best one anyone could ever ask for," he began. "Today, I’m not just celebrating your life... I’m honoring all the sacrifices, love, and strength you've poured into me."

He recounted how she took responsibility for him at the age of 13, raising him with love and discipline during the most formative years of his life. From offering advice he once misunderstood to setting a daily example through her actions, Mrs. Abam, he said, molded him into the man he is becoming, one grounded in family, focus, and integrity.

"You didn’t just guide me, you molded me. I have learned so many things from you, things no school, no book, no friend could have taught me,” he wrote.

“You’ve held this family together in ways many don’t see. We may not say it enough, but we feel it  and I feel it the most.”

What truly captured public attention, however, was Comrade Ewelu’s emotional vow regarding his future wife. He openly declared that unless he finds a woman with his sister’s heart, strength, and wisdom, he is willing to wait indefinitely.

"Every single day, I pray that my future wife is blessed with the same kind of heart, strength, and wisdom God gave you," he wrote.

"Because if she has even half the spirit you carry, I will be a truly lucky man… If I don’t see a girl that possesses the same qualities my sister has, I will be happy to wait."

The tribute has resonated deeply with many, inspiring reflection on the importance of strong female figures, the value of gratitude, and the lasting impact of family in shaping personal character.

In an era where emotional depth and public displays of affection within families are often rare, Comrade Ewelu’s message stands out not only for its sincerity but for its rare blend of vulnerability, appreciation, and unshakable family loyalty.

His tribute reminds us that leadership is not only about public service, but also about embodying the values we wish to see in society respect, love, humility, and honor.
