Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong Facilitates ₦30 Million Grant for 300 Small Business Owners in Cross River South

 


In a bold move to stimulate entrepreneurship and support grassroots economic development, Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, representing Cross River South Senatorial District, has facilitated the disbursement of ₦30 million in business grants to 300 small and medium-scale entrepreneurs through the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).

The event, which took place at Channel View Hotel in Calabar, drew hundreds of aspiring and existing business owners from across the district, all hopeful for a new economic beginning. Each beneficiary received ₦100,000  to support and expand their enterprises, as part of the Senator’s ongoing efforts to empower constituents and reduce poverty through sustainable business growth.

Speaking on behalf of Senator Ekpenyong, Hon. Oqua Edet Oqua commended the Senator’s unwavering commitment to human capacity development and grassroots empowerment. "Distinguished Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong understands that economic growth starts at the bottom. By empowering our local entrepreneurs, he is building a future where prosperity is not a privilege but a possibility for all," he said, while assuring constituents of continued support in partnership with federal agencies.

One of the beneficiaries, Eno Asanye, expressed gratitude to the Senator, stating that the grant would help her expand her local catering business and employ more youth.

Ewum Oyono Ekpe described the initiative as a lifeline, noting that it would enable him to revive his palm oil processing business after years of struggling with limited capital.

Glory Isamo Egong thanked the Senator for remembering the grassroots, adding that the financial support was timely and would help her grow her clothing retail venture.

The successful distribution of the ₦30 Million in grants marks another impactful milestone in Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong’s quest to economically transform Cross River South through enterprise support and inclusive development.
