Barr. Gilbert Agbor Galvanizes Community for Record Voter Registration in Etomi, Support for Gov Otu

The Special Adviser to Governor Bassey Otu on Asset Management and Recovery, Barr. Gilbert Agbor, has galvanized a major voter registration drive in his political ward of Etomi, calling on residents to take full advantage of the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

Hosting youths, community leaders and residents at his country home over the weekend, Barr. Agbor said Governor Otu’s inclusive leadership was enough motivation for the people to demonstrate overwhelming support through active political participation and voting en masse for him in 2027.

He emphasized that voter registration remains the foundation of good governance, noting that no community can meaningfully influence leadership outcomes without first securing their PVCs.

“Governor Otu has done more than enough for Etung as a local government to earn our massive support,” Agbor said. “This is the time for us to be resolute, determined and fully committed to the ongoing voter registration exercise. We must all be part of the governance process by becoming politically active and participating in the elections that shape leadership in our state and country.”

Agbor, who described appointees as “ambassadors of government” who must continue to engage constituents, urged Etomi residents and indigenes to remain steadfast in their support for the Otu-led administration. He assured them that government representatives owe the people a responsibility to champion initiatives that strengthen democracy, including mass mobilization for voter registration.

Commending the Special Adviser’s efforts, the Supervisor for Agriculture in the Etung Executive Council, Mr. Collins Bassey, said Agbor’s mobilization efforts, alongside his financial and logistical support, have greatly boosted turnout in the ongoing exercise.

According to him, the enthusiasm witnessed in Etomi highlights the community’s appreciation for the governor’s decision to place Etung indigenes in key positions of trust.

“Barr. Agbor’s commitment has given this exercise renewed energy,” Bassey said. “His support has encouraged our people to come out in large numbers to register. The government has shown confidence in Etung by giving our sons and daughters prime leadership roles, and we will not disappoint.”

In their separate remarks, the Etomi Town Council Chairman, Comrade  Peter Amba Mgboki, and the Councillor representing Etomi Ward in the Etung Legislative Council, Hon. Michael Orok Etta as well as the Supervisor for Transportation , Hon Bright Ntui lauded Barr. Agbor’s open-door leadership style, describing it as a major unifying force in the community.

They noted that Agbor’s accessibility, humility and commitment to grassroots development have strengthened political cohesion in Etomi, assuring that the ward would remain firmly aligned with the vision and direction of the Otu-led administration.

According to them, Etomi is witnessing a renewed sense of belonging under Barr. Agbor’s political guidance, adding that such leadership has made it easier for the community to mobilize massively for the ongoing voter registration.

The event was also attended by the Etung Supervisor for Transport, Hon. Bright Ntui, Youth President, Comrade Roland Manyo Etta, Ward Relation Officer, Ndifon Collins Akan, Mr. Charles Mkpe Ojong, Ward Chairman and Special Assistant on Chieftaincy Affairs Etung LGA, and several other community stakeholders who pledged sustained support for the government and continued mobilization throughout the voter registration period.
