Dr. Orok Duke Distributes 420 Bags of Rice, Oil in Cross River Christmas Outreach

 



The Cross River State representative on the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Orok Otu Duke, has successfully concluded a two-day Christmas outreach programme, during which essential food items were distributed to key institutions across the state.

The outreach, carried out on Tuesday and Wednesday, was designed to support public institutions and security formations during the festive season. Items distributed included bags of premium parboiled rice and bottles of vegetable oil.

Beneficiaries of the initiative cut across strategic government offices and security agencies, including the offices of the Governor of Cross River State and the Speaker of the 10th State House of Assembly. Others were the Office of the Chief Judge of the State, the Commissioner of Police, the Assistant Inspector General of Police (Zone 6), and the State Director of the Department of State Services.

Also covered were the Brigade Commander of the 13 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, the Commanding Officer of the 130 Battalion in Ogoja, the Commanding Officer of the Recce Battalion at Afi Barracks, Ikom, the 341 Artillery Regiment in Calabar, the Commodore of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Victory, the Naval Fleet Support Group (East), the Eastern Naval Command, and the Nigerian Air Force bases in Calabar and Ogoja. The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Chairman of the Traditional Rulers Council, host communities, and retirees across the state also benefited from the exercise.

The distribution was coordinated directly from the office of the Commissioner, with a total of 420 bags of rice and 420 bottles of vegetable oil shared among the beneficiary institutions.

Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Duke described the outreach as a seasonal gesture of goodwill aimed at promoting inclusiveness and supporting institutions that play critical roles in the stability and development of the state. He noted that the exercise aligns with the NDDC’s mandate of improving the welfare of communities within the Niger Delta region.

The Niger Delta Development Commission is a federal government intervention agency established to drive sustainable development and enhance the socio-economic wellbeing of Nigeria’s oil-producing region through targeted programmes and community-focused initiatives.
