Meet Peter Olom Ube: Biochemist, Youth Advocate and Faith-Based Leader Shaping a New Generation





A distinguished scholar, youth leader and community development advocate, Peter Olom Ube continues to stand out as one of Cross River State’s most consistent voices in education, faith-based leadership and social impact. Born in Utugwang in Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State. He attended Community primary school Nkirira in Utugwang Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State from 1995 to 2001 where he served as the class monitor throughout and took first position from start to the end of his primary education. His quest for knowledge led him to Model Secondary Commercial School Nkirira Utugwang from 2001 and graduated with flying colours in 2007. While in secondary school he served as the class monitor from JSS 1 to JSS 3, school regulator in SS 1 and senior boys’ prefect in SS 2. In 2003, while in JSS 3 he got an award as the best participating student in science intra competition organized by the Corps members for senior secondary schools in the community. 

His assiduous effort in his studies got him a double scholarship by the management of the school. He was able to maintain his academic prowess which was always evidence in his performance. Peter Olom Ube took second and third position only once throughout his period of study in secondary school as a result of circumstances beyond his control and was able to maintain his outstanding first position as reflected in his foundational education. 

His quest for knowledge compelled him to travel for Kaduna upon successful completion of his secondary education. In 2008 he switched his intention to the study of computer application software in Chardkick Computer Institute Kaduna, after a successful completion of six months of intensive training his ability to master all the programmes within the time frame got him retained by the company as an instructor to train other students. After a few months, he voluntarily resigned and proceeded to Khemsafe Computer Resource for the study of computer maintenance. A programme he carried out for a period of one year. In 2010, Peter Olom Ube diversified his interest in the study of Physiotherapy in Tasly, an affiliate of a Chinese company that is based in Kaduna. After working for the company for a period of seven months he resigned voluntarily and began seeking for an opportunity where he could impact knowledge and broaden his mental horizon. This led him to Wilsom International College Kaduna where he was employed as a Liberian. After a few months in office, he got admission into the University of Cross River State to study Biochemistry in Calabar Campus. 

While on campus, Peter Olom Ube maintained his unweaving commitment and focused in his career in line with his dedication to the service of God and humanity. He served as the coordinator of fresh students, Assistant secretary, general secretary and president of Christ Ambassador students’ Outreach (CASOR) UNICROSS. He was also the director of information in Chemical science students Association (CHEMSSA) UNICROSS and the director of Information Student Union Government (SUG). He was also the secretary of the youth department, Assemblies of God 39 Ekeya street Calabar south district. He graduated with a second Class Honours (Upper Division) “2.1” in Biochemistry and went for Nation Youths Service Corps (NYSC) in 2016 where he served in Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State as the Coordination of Nigeria Christians Coppers Fellowship (NCCF). He also served as a science teacher in Immaculate Conception secondary school Iboko in Izzi LGA and was able to work closely with the leadership of the NCCF state president in advancing the kingdom of God. He mobilized Corps members to attend the 2017 Batch B Baptismal Rural Rugged Evangelism with the theme: “Full of Grace and Truth in Igbudu Community, Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State with many souls won into the kingdom of God. He also served as the Sunday school teacher in the adult class in Assemblies of God Church Iboko during his service year. 

Upon successful completion of his NYSC, his zeal to expand his mental horizon compelled him to enroll for his Masters degree programme in Biochemistry department UNICROSS and graduated in 2023. He also served as the chief of staff to the first executive president of postgraduate students Government (PGSG) UNICROSS and the Electoral Board Chairman of PGSG that conducted election for the second set of PGSG executives in 2020. He is currently undergoing his Ph.D. programme in the Department of Biochemistry  UNICROSS. 


RELIGIOUS LIFE:

Peter Olom Ube is a committed and dedicated member of Assemblies of God Nigeria; he was born again in 2004 and received the water baptism in the same year while in SS 1 during his secondary school year and received the baptism of the Holy-Spirit in 2010 in Kaduna. He is currently worshiping with Assemblies of God 39 Ekeya street Calabar South where he serves as the youth president and Sectional youths Vice president.

CONTRIBUTIONS TO HUMANITY AND SOCIETY

Peter Olom Ube believes in reaching out to help humanity irrespective of the magnitude of one’s kindness or gesture. His contributions to advance the course of humanity by extension to society are seen as follows:

Led the team that planted flowers to beautify the environment during his secondary school while serving as the senior prefect.

Was the first president in CASOR to establish a fellowship library and donated more than fifty quality books to instill reading culture among students.

Was the first president to initiate the idea of branding T-shirt for CASOR – UNICROSS to promote evangelism on campus.

As a Youth corper, he was able to train more than twenty (20) Teenagers in Assemblies of God Iboko, in Izzi LGA of Ebonyi State on the production of Cosmetics. A programme he self-sponsored to encourage the young people to imbibe the spirit of entrepreneurship and be self-reliant. 

As the Zonal Coordinator of NCCF, Izzi Zone; his regime contributed financially to the building project of the fellowship.

He is the founder of “Shining Destiny magazine” and has authored the following books:
