The Cross River State representative on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Rt. Hon. Orok Otu Duke, has sent a warm and hearty congratulatory message to the First Lady of Cross River State, Her Excellency, Bishop (Mrs.) Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, on the occasion of her birthday.

In a statement on Friday, Duke described the First Lady as a "pillar of support, a beacon of hope, and a mother to the state," whose life has been dedicated to the service of humanity and the spiritual upliftment of the people.

The NDDC Rep lauded the First Lady’s numerous humanitarian initiatives, particularly her "People First" social welfare programmes which have reached the vulnerable, the aged, and the less privileged across the eighteen local government areas of the state. He noted that her compassion and grace have significantly complemented the developmental strides of the Governor, His Excellency, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu.

"On behalf of my family and the Niger Delta Development Commission, I join the host of heaven and the good people of Cross River State to celebrate a woman of virtue, a prayer warrior, and a dedicated servant-leader," the statement read. "Your Excellency, your life’s journey reflects a commitment to the ideals of peace, love, and progress. You have redefined the office of the First Lady by bringing a touch of divinity and deep empathy to governance."

Duke further noted that Bishop Eyoanwan Otu's leadership in the religious sphere has continued to provide the much-needed spiritual guidance for the state, fostering an atmosphere of harmony and divine favour.

He prayed for God to grant her continued good health, divine wisdom, and many more years of fruitful service to the state and humanity at large.

"It is my prayer that as you mark another milestone today, the Almighty God will renew your strength like the eagle’s and continue to use you as a vessel of honour to bring joy to the hearts of many," Duke added.

Engr. Jerome Egbe Visits NSCDC Command for Strategic Partnership on Public Utilities

  The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. Dr. Jerome Egbe, KSM, today, October 8, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, Mr. Brown Charles, in Calabar.  The visit centered on establishing a strategic partnership to protect and secure public utilities across the state from vandals and criminal elements. UNICROSS ACTING VC EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER DAMAGE OF UNIVERSITY STUCTURES AFTER RAINSTORM IN CALABAR
