Following the tragic auto crash involving students of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) on May 1, 2026, a delegation of the University’s Alumni Association on Sunday Amy 3rd paid a solidarity visit to victims receiving treatment at different hospitals in Calabar.
The delegation, comprising the Member representing Convocation in the Governing Council, Dr. Ofut Ofar; National Legal Adviser, Barr. Romeo Ojong; Treasurer, Engr. Peter Ikem; Public Relations Officer, Dr. Mrs. Peace Egbai; and Alumni Relations Officer, Engr. Joel Agbaragba, announced a donation of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000) on behalf of the Association to support the medical expenses of the hospitalized students.
During the visit, the delegation encouraged the students to remain strong and assured them that they are not alone in this difficult moment. The Association also pledged to work closely with the UNICROSS Management to ensure that the victims receive adequate care and support throughout their treatment and recovery.
Speaking on behalf of Dr. Inyali Peter, the National President of the Association, Dr. Ogar, conveyed the Association’s deep sympathy to the victims, the university community, and the families of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident.
The Association further commended the Cross River State Government, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Bassey; the Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Victor Ndifon; his deputy, Dr. Godswill John; and the medical personnel for their swift response and dedication to the care of the victims.
