Senator Eteng Williams Records Strong Legislative Footprint in Nigeria’s 10th Senate

 




Distinguished Senator Eteng Jonah Williams, representing Cross River Central Senatorial District in the 10th Senate, has continued to strengthen his reputation as an active and result-driven legislator through the sponsorship of impactful bills and motions aimed at national development and the welfare of his constituents.

Since the inauguration of the 10th Senate on June 13, 2023, Senator Williams has emerged as one of the notable voices in the National Assembly, demonstrating commitment to quality representation and legislative excellence within just over two years in office.

A core responsibility of every legislator is lawmaking, and Senator Williams has shown remarkable dedication in this regard through the introduction of several strategic bills addressing healthcare, education, mining, agriculture, petroleum engineering, research, and national security.

1. Nigerian Research Institutes Act (Amendment) Bill, 2025 (SB. 918) – A bill seeking the establishment of the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria, Ikom, to promote agricultural research and economic development.

2. Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act (Amendment) Bill, 2025 (HB. 316) – Designed to strengthen anti-corruption mechanisms in the country.

3. Federal Medical Centres Act (Amendment) Bill, 2024 (SB. 525) – A proposal for the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre in Ugep to improve access to tertiary healthcare services for residents of Cross River Central and beyond.

4. Chartered Institute of Petroleum and Gas Engineers of Nigeria (Establishment) Bill, 2024 – Currently awaiting third reading, the bill seeks to enhance professionalism, industry standards, and collaboration within Nigeria’s petroleum and gas engineering sector.

5. Nuclear Safety Security and Safeguard Bill, 2023 – Focused on strengthening Nigeria’s nuclear safety framework and regulatory safeguards.

6. Mineral and Mining Act (Amendment) Bill, 2023 – Aimed at improving the legal framework guiding mining operations and mineral resources management.

7. Agricultural Development Institute (Obubra) Bill, 2025 – Targeted at boosting agricultural innovation, training, and rural development.

In addition to sponsoring bills, Senator Williams has also raised several critical motions addressing urgent national and community concerns. These include calls for federal relief support for victims of communal clashes in Ovonum and Ofatura, measures to curb illegal oil exploitation, protection for internally displaced persons (IDPs), revitalization of technical and vocational education, and reforms to Nigeria’s counterpart funding policy.

Political observers and constituents alike have described Senator Williams’ performance as a reflection of purposeful leadership and effective representation.

Widely known by the political code “EJW27,” the senator continues to position himself as a symbol of progress and development for Cross River Central Senatorial District.

BREAKING NEWS: Youths of Ikot Ansa Nab Vandals Destroying Public Utilities, Hand Over to Authorities for Prosecution

  In a combined effort to curb the rampant vandalism of public utilities in Cross River State, the youth leader of Ikot Ansa, Prince, Victor Otu Iso JR, alongside his community, successfully apprehended criminals involved in the destruction of vital public infrastructure.
