The Cross River State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Pius Edet, has reaffirmed the State Government's unwavering commitment to delivering durable and strategic infrastructure with an on-the-spot inspection of the Aya Bridge along the Obudu–Bekwarra Road.
Accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Paul Bepeh, and a team of experienced engineers, the Commissioner carried out a comprehensive assessment of the Aya Bridge and other critical road infrastructure across the Northern Senatorial District. The inspection formed part of the Ministry's ongoing drive to identify priority projects requiring urgent intervention and ensure that infrastructure across the state meets the highest standards of safety, functionality, and durability.
During the inspection, the team identified key structural concerns requiring immediate rehabilitation. Following the technical assessment, appropriate recommendations were made, with the Commissioner directing that the affected section be accorded high priority to guarantee safe and uninterrupted movement for commuters, farmers, and businesses that rely on the corridor for economic activities.
Hon. Pius Edet emphasized that proactive monitoring, timely maintenance, and strategic interventions remain central to the Ministry's mandate of preserving critical public infrastructure and supporting sustainable development across Cross River State.
The inspection aligns with the "People First" agenda of His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, whose administration continues to prioritize quality infrastructure as a catalyst for economic growth, improved connectivity, and enhanced quality of life for citizens.
Through sustained investments in road and bridge infrastructure, the Cross River State Government remains committed to building a safer, more connected, and more prosperous state for present and future generations.
