Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, on Monday inspected ongoing road infrastructure projects along the Calabar corridor, with particular focus on the failed sections of the Calabar–Odukpani Road.
Accompanied by the Commissioner for Works, Hon. Pius Edet Ankpo, the Governor assessed the deteriorated portions of the road firsthand and received briefings from project officials on the proposed rehabilitation strategy.
Governor Otu reaffirmed his administration's unwavering commitment to improving road infrastructure across the state, describing the restoration of critical road networks as a key priority for enhancing transportation, boosting economic activities, and ensuring the safety and convenience of motorists and other road users.
He noted that the inspection forms part of the government's routine monitoring of infrastructure projects aimed at ensuring quality execution, timely completion, and prompt intervention where urgent repairs are required.
Speaking to journalists after the inspection, the Commissioner for Works, Hon. Pius Edet Ankpo, reiterated the state's resolve to deliver durable and high-quality road infrastructure.
According to him, the Otu administration remains committed to ensuring that all road projects adhere to established engineering standards, providing long-lasting value while improving connectivity and supporting socio-economic development across Cross River State.
