  The Vice Chancellor of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Prof. Francisca Bassey , has received the report and survey documentation on the University’s land boundaries, including the outcome of a recent survey exercise conducted by the Surveyor-General of Cross River State , Surv. Patrick Edet Bassey, and his technical team. Prof. Bassey received the documents during a meeting with the Surveyor-General at his office, where she was accompanied by members of the University Management Team.   Over 12 Political parties under the umbrella of the Coalition Of Opposition Political Parties (COPP) in Cross River State have rejected the proposed charges by the Cross River State Signage and Advertisement Agency (CRISSAA) for political campaign advertisements ahead of the 2027 general elections , describing the tariff as excessive,anti-democratic and unacceptable. COPP, in a statement signed by the state chairmen of the ZLP , YPP, PRP ,ACCORD, AAC, BOOT, NNPP , SDP, APM, PDP ,LP ,YP and others, said the proposed fees could make political participation inaccessible to opposition and less financially endowed candidates. According to the document in circulation cited by the coalition, presidential candidates would be required to pay 150 million, governorship candidates 100 million, senatorial candidates 50 million, House of Representative 25 million,and House of Assembly candidates 5 million for political campaign advertisements. ​The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has officially announced the commencement of its First Choice Admission Screening Exercise for the 2026/2027 academic session . The university has also unveiled 19 newly approved undergraduate academic programmes across its campuses. ​According to an official notice signed by the University Registrar, Dr. (Mrs) Catherine Ndifon Osai, eligible candidates include UTME applicants who chose UNICROSS as their First Choice and scored 150 and above in the 2026 UTME.   The Cross River State representative on the board of the NDDC Rt. Hon. Orok Otu Duke , has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the state to step up grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections , warning that the party cannot afford to be complacent. Duke made the call on on Sunday while reacting to the outcome of the Osun State governorship election , where the candidate of the Accord Party , Ademola Adeleke , defeated the APC.   Work has commenced on the remodeling of the main gate of Calabar campus of the University of Cross River State ( UNICROSS ), in a major development expected to enhance the aesthetics, functionality and overall outlook of the University’s main entrance. The remodeling project is being undertaken by Zenith Bank Plc as part of its support for the development of the University.  The intervention was facilitated through the efforts and advocacy of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Bassey , who has continued to pursue strategic partnerships with the private sector to complement government efforts in advancing infrastructure and other critical needs of the institution.
