Dr. Betta Donates Covid-19 Prevention Materials to Private and Public Schools in Cross River State



With the resumption of schools in both Public and Private schools in the State, the State's Commissioner for Health Dr Betta Edu has in her usual magnanimity supported most Private and Public Schools with COVID-19 prevention materials to help protect the returning students as well as their staff.


Dr Edu through her Media Aide Engr Ntem Kris visited a couple of Private Schools in Obubra LGA to carryout massive COVID-19 sensitization and to educate both the Teachers and Students on the possible ways of preventing the spread of the virus and the necessary requirements according to the NCDC standard in all schools to ensure safety and a healthy living amongst Students and Teachers.


In his words; "Am here on behalf of the Cross River State Government under the leadership of Sen Prof Ben Ayade through the CRSMOH headed by Dr Betta Edu. It has been a difficult moment for you especially the Private School Teachers and the Health Commissioner Dr Betta Edu understands your plight, shares in this difficult moment of yours and as such has directed that i come support your School with sensitive COVID-19 prevention materials as well as giving you the right message to help sensitize/educate us on the best practices that could help curtail the spread of this Virus. Sen Prof Ben Ayade through the Commissioner for Health has done a lot to keep us safe, with the lean resources of the State, we still were the last to record any positive case in the entire Country and this is because we have the right leadership.


"The CRS Health Commissioner Dr Edu cares about the safety and healthy living of everyone including our Students and Teachers that is why she has instructed me to come support your resumption with this preventive materials and to inform you that the Government of Sen Prof Ben Ayade will never relent in his effort to keep supporting and protecting his Student whether in the Private or Public Schools and has also promised to send more COVID-19 prevention materials to more schools in the State."


Reacting, the Proprietor of the School who is also a State appointee to the Governor Mr Martins Adomi Raymond expressed satisfaction with the State Governor Sen Prof Ben Ayade and the Commissioner for Health Dr Betta Edu for the tremendous support accorded to him and other Proprietors. In his words; "Governor Ben Ayade i must say is a blessing to us cross riverians and has remained a Father to all irrespective of party, class, senatorial district, age and even religion. He has proven that he's a Leader for all and i can't thank him enough for supporting the educational sector as well as other sectors.


"As a State, we're blessed to have a Progressive Youth running the affairs of the Health Ministry. Dr Betta Edu has done well and has achieved a lot within a short period of time. Her marvelous records during her reign as the pioneer DG of the CRSPHCDA has remained tall in our dear State. Her Love and Care for humanity is one compared to none, this she has shown through her magnanimity, love, passion and support to millions. When her Aide and his team arrived my School i was a bit scared knowing the Ministry he was coming from and from a distance i saw him and his team observing the COVID-19 rules by first of all washing their hands at the school entrance and other protocols after which he took a tour round the school taking into consideration the level of preparedness and he was satisfied with my School and informed us that he was instructed by his Boss the Health Commissioner to come support us with COVID-19 prevention materials. We can't thank her enough as her good works will never go unnoticed."


The Health Commissioner through his Media Aide has stated that more COVID-19 prevention materials will be sent to most of the Private Schools in the State as well as Public Schools as her desire is to see cross riverians irrespective of their schools, age, class, and religion safe and healthy. A few of the items donated included; Face masks, Hand Sanitizers, Digital Thermometer, Veronica Buckets, COVID-19 Prevention Manual, Liquid Soap, etc.

Engr. Jerome Egbe Visits NSCDC Command for Strategic Partnership on Public Utilities

  The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. Dr. Jerome Egbe, KSM, today, October 8, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, Mr. Brown Charles, in Calabar.  The visit centered on establishing a strategic partnership to protect and secure public utilities across the state from vandals and criminal elements. UNICROSS ACTING VC EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER DAMAGE OF UNIVERSITY STUCTURES AFTER RAINSTORM IN CALABAR
