Ibor Emerges as Director of Finance and Accounts at Progressive Institute

 



Hon. Bassey Ina Ibor Ph.D. has been appointed as the Director of Finance and Accounts of The Progressive Institute (TPI), a policy think tank and intellectual resource center of the All Progressives Congress (APC). 


He holds an impressive array of academic credentials, including a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Calabar, an M.Sc. in Banking and Finance, and an MBA. 


His appointment follows his distinguished career in the financial services sector, where he has spent over 40 years specializing in accounting, audit, banking, and financial services marketing. 


Dr. Ibor, a distinguished Nigerian financial expert, brings a wealth of experience to his new role, cementing his position as a key player in the advancement of the party’s objectives.


His professional qualifications are equally extensive, with fellowship status in several renowned institutions such as the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, and the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered).


Throughout his career, Dr. Ibor has held significant leadership positions, including past Chairman of the South-South Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Management, National Vice President, and Chairman of various committees across professional organizations. He is a toasted paper presenter and discusant at professional conferences and meetings. He is currently the South South Zonal Coordinator of the ICAN Accountability Index Assessment on Public Finance Management practices.


 His contributions to the financial sector also extend to his roles on boards, including as Chairman of the Board Audit and Credit & Risk Management Committees of CSD Microfinance  Bank Limited.


A seasoned consultant, Dr. Ibor has made notable contributions to the national economy. He has chaired key study and technical working groups in sectors like health, governance and public finance as well as water sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in several states. His leadership has also extended to politics, having served as a member of the Cross River State House of Assembly from 2003 to 2007, where he was pivotal in committees related to finance, public accounts, and poverty alleviation.


Dr. Ibor is a respected academic with numerous published works and recognition as a Highly Cited Researcher by Thomson Reuters in 2016. His scholarly expertise has earned him several national and international honours, including the Global Peace Citizen Award, International Who's who of Professionals' and the American Medal of Honour. He is a Publons certified reviewer of academic journals.


The Progressive Institute, headquartered in Abuja, is dedicated to enhancing the APC’s internal governance, leadership recruitment, and policy development through research and training. It is recognized by the Federal Ministry of Education, the National Board for Technical Education and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission.

Engr. Jerome Egbe Visits NSCDC Command for Strategic Partnership on Public Utilities

  The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. Dr. Jerome Egbe, KSM, today, October 8, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, Mr. Brown Charles, in Calabar.  The visit centered on establishing a strategic partnership to protect and secure public utilities across the state from vandals and criminal elements. UNICROSS ACTING VC EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER DAMAGE OF UNIVERSITY STUCTURES AFTER RAINSTORM IN CALABAR
