Looting our Heroes Past; Speaker Tours Properties Vandalised by Hoodlums

Cross River State House of Assembly has embarked on-the- spot assessment on various locations and properties Vandalised by hoodlums who hijacked the peaceful End SARS protest in Cross River State.



The Speaker Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams who led the delegation of house members on the inspection frowned on the destruction of private and public properties.



Eteng said "having gone round, the destruction does not portend peaceful demonstration but an act of wickedness, criminality of our heritage and the labour of our heroes past.


In his statement, he added that we don't have Tinapa, CICC, the most envious in the Nation, Garment factory and we have succeeded in sending investors away but he reassured Crossriverians that the state would bounce back again.


Eteng also used this opportunity to call on Crossriverians to collaborate with the government in bringing out the destroyers of our heritage and those involved will never go unpunished, that the government would not stop at nothing to ensure that the culprits are brought to book to face the full wrath of the law.


Speaker summarized that it takes 48hours to vandalized and loot Cross River State and private properties in a peaceful State.


He went ahead to sympathised with private companies, Senator Gershom Bassey who's representing the Southern Senatorial District in the Senate, Senator Victor Ndoma Egba and Senator Liyel Imoke after a thorough assessment of the losses. Adding that Cross River State is back to zero limit, the state is starting over again and there's nothing left for the next generations.


Places visited by lawmakers include the vandalized Cross River State Basin Authority, Tinapa Hotel and warehouse, Nigeria television authority, CICC, Ministry of Works, Senator Gershom Bassey's House Asari Eso, Garment Factory, Senator Victor Ndoma Egba's House, Asari Eso, Value Mart, Cross River State Roll Back Malaria, barracks road, Chronicles Newspapers, barracks road and Carnival Calabar Treasury House looted and vandalized.


Vehicles, documents were not spared.
