UNICAL: Ndifon replaces Okom as Dean Faculty of Law




AProfessor of Jurisprudence and International Law, Cyril Ndifon, has been elected for a second shot as Dean Faculty of Law, University of Calabar (UNICAL).


Announcing the result earlier, the Electoral Officer, Robert Omang, said he emerged victorious with 46 votes against two other Professors; Michael Ibanga and Jacob Dada.


Earlier, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Florence Obi, enjoined voters to abide by the rules governing elections while assuring  them of the management's support.


Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, Prof Angela Oyo Ita, she said: "

We are in a new  dispensation and we need to set a background to support the administration. You should be assured of management support."


Aside commending them for running a successful election, the outgoing Dean Faculty of Law and Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Prof Michael Okom, said the Dean's office in the last tenure provided an alternative kind of leadership,a Bible based LEADERSHIP,characterized by maintained access and accountability.He said the students nicknamed the Dean's office,'solution table'.


He charged the new administration to understand that, "leadership is a burden not a tea party and it is almost sacred".


In an exclusive interview, Dr Ogban Ndukwe, applauded Prof Okom for reshaping the faculty, noting that he was able to achieve the feat because of focus and steadfast dedication.


He said new Dean is " experienced, charismatic and a popular candidate".


In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Dean appreciated colleagues for trusting the leadership of the Faculty under him  once again as he urged them to shun cabals in the the Faculty.

Engr. Jerome Egbe Visits NSCDC Command for Strategic Partnership on Public Utilities

  The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. Dr. Jerome Egbe, KSM, today, October 8, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, Mr. Brown Charles, in Calabar.  The visit centered on establishing a strategic partnership to protect and secure public utilities across the state from vandals and criminal elements. UNICROSS ACTING VC EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER DAMAGE OF UNIVERSITY STUCTURES AFTER RAINSTORM IN CALABAR
