CR ASSEMBLY SET TO STRENGTHEN THE NIGERIA INSTITUTION OF SURVEYORS - Speaker

The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams has assured members of the Nigeria Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuewers of the House readiness to partner the Institution to boost their performance, in surveying and valuation.


Eteng gave the hint, when the newly installed executives led by it's Chairman, Esv, Samuel Bassey paid him a courtesy call in his Office.


The Speaker, noted that Land matters should be left in the hands of professionals, he however commended the Institution, for their hard work and professional conduct, while assuring that the House will assist the Institution achieve it's objectives.


Also speaking, the Clerk of the House, Barr. Bassey Ekpenyong, advise the Institution to forward a copy of their proposed amendment to the House for consideration, adding that steakeholders should be handy to attend the public hearing, when necessary.


Earlier, the State Chairman of the Nigeria Institution of Estate Surveyors, Cross River State Charpter, ESV. Samuel Bassey, said the visit was to seek amendment to the existing law, which regulates the activities of the Institution, adding that the Institution identifies with the Speaker and members, of the 9th Assembly, on their task of lawmaking.


Bassey, called on the House to intervene on Land related activities in the State, to avoid being hijack by other Institutions of Government and reiterated the need for the House to also " look into the CRGIA law No.2 of 2012, which has some flaws in terms of it's content and operations, adding that if these functions are restored to the Lands Department, the Institution will be capable of generating over 400 million Naira annually"


Meanwhile, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams,  has assured members of the Tinapa Lake Side Hotel of conveying their message to His Excellency, the Governor, Sen. Prof. Ben. Ayade, on the position of Tinapa, as well as the State taking over the the payment of Staff salaries, since the #EndSars vadalization took place last year.


Eteng, maintained that he is worried over the position of Tinapa and however assured the Staff, of the Governor's committment and policy to ensuring "Food on every one's table"


In her earlie remarks, the head of management and staff, Tinapa Lake Side Hotel, Justina Ovat, who led the delligation, said they came to solicit the Speaker's attention for the take over of payment of staff salaries by the State Government, she lamented that Staff of Tinapa Lake Side Hotel have not received any salaries since the #EndSars vadalization.
