C'River Speaker to light up Agoi Ibami community

By Trinity Jesam

After years of pervading darkness in Agoi Ibami community of Yakurr Local Government Area,  the Speaker of Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams has commenced the process of electrifying the community.

Rt. Hon. Williams re-echoed his commitment to fulfil his campaign promises at the palace of the Attah of Agoi Ibami, His Royal Highness, Charles I. Ujong, recently, when he conducted contractors for the electrification project on a survey of Agoi Ibami community, ahead of immediate mobilisation to site.

The Speaker appealed to the people of Agoi Ibami to cooperate with the contractors that would  handle the electrification project, which he said will eventually put a permanent end to the years of darkness.

Recall that on the 25th February, 2021, at the Commissioning of nine classroom blocks with 16 toilets, a staff office and a library at Community Secondary School, Agoi ibami, facilitated by him through the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), the Speaker promised the people that he will fulfil all his campaign promises, where his first priority was given to education and now rural electrification and subsequently motorable roads.

Speaking also, the Attah of Agoi Ibami, His Royal Highness Charles I. Ujong, lamented the community's dejection felt by neglect of previous administrations, but expressed elation at the new lease on life the electrification project will afford the community through a son (Rt. Hon. Williams) that has not reneged on his promises.

The Royal Father added that the Youths that used to visit during Christmas can now stay longer before going back when the electrification projects is eventually completed.

Earlier, a representative of Nigerian Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Mr. Joseph noted that they are here for energy survey of the community courtesy of the Speaker that wrote to their head office and approval was given and all they expect now is maximum cooperation from the host community to ensure that the project is delivered at stipulated time.

Dignitaries that accompanied the Speaker to Agoi Ibami are Nigerian Rural Electrification Agency Representatives, Mr Joseph and Engr. Chidiebere, Commissioner I, Local Government Service Commission, Chief Uket obono, Board Member, State Privatization Council, Mr. Butum Ubi, Secretary of Yakurr council, Mr. Mbang Ujong,  and many others.
