The Epic defection of the traditional princess to APC in Akpabuyo




The headquarters of the so called nationals, Atimbo East has been taken by a formidable princess from Duke Town House and in extension Etim Effiom Royal House of Akpabuyo, High Chief Dr Genevieve Barnaby, Nee Umo Edem Adam Ephraim Tete in a grand defection rally held at Atimbo East Ward of Akpabuyo on Monday.


The Director General of Ayade Home Healthcare who is a recipient of a referred title " Ada idaha ke Efik Eburutu" conferred on her by the late Obong of Calabar, Edidem Boco Ene Mkpang Cobham disclosed that her defection to the All Progressive Congress from PDP is not personal but for the developmental strides of Cross River State which is bond out of her desires for good governance and youth development which His Excellency Senator Prof Ben Ayade is extremely doing great.


According to her this is not time to abolish such ideology which is a pathway to youth development which she supports. She noted that the entire Atimbo East have officially defected to APC and as such will not leave any stone unturn in making sure the dividends of democracy is felt in the axis.


In the same vein, the Chairman of Akpabuyo, Hon Emmanuel Bassey revealed that Akpabuyo is 100% APC as there was no cause for alarm as the entire Councillors and Political office holders from the Local Government are APC and so shall it be even after 2023. 


A well known mobiliser of the youths and King of the South coast, Hon Cyril Asuquo aka. Etete Mbawa who accompanied the Ayadecare DG said he decided to join the APC to contribute to the development of Cross River State and the country as a whole.


“Our stay in PDP has not been encouraging. PDP policies and approach have not encouraged internal party democracy and governance in the State,” he said.


Receiving the defectors, the Ward Chairman of APC in Atimbo East Ward, Mr Edem Edet Effiom said more defectors were still coming to register with the party for the development of the Local Government Area. 


Effiom said that APC would clinch all the elective position comes 2023 in Akpabuyo Area Council and Cross River State at large for the development of the area and the country.


Before the defection ceremony the Ayadecare Home Health DG had gone to pay homage in her Aboriginal home to chiefs and Elders of the village where she was led by Prince Patrick Tete Adam Edem Ephraim and Prince Edem Effiom Adam Ephraim to lay a flower in the grave of her late grand father, Bassey Adam III (Abasi Eyo Efiom Ededem Edak Edem Etim Efiom Okoho Efiom Ekpo Efiom Ekpo; 25 December 1904  – 14 December 1986) who was the Obong of Calabar and the Edidem of the Efik kingdom from 27 November 1982 until his death on 14 December 1986


Among the defectors were, The Vice Chairman, Hon Abigail Duke S.A Religious Affairs Rev. Emmanuel Effiom, the Councillor of the Ward, Hon Tony Ene and the Local Government Secretary.
