UNICAL security arrest impostors for inciting students for protest

 



The internal security operatives of the University of Calabar has arrested one Okon Okon Jacob, who is not a student of the University of Calabar for inciting students to stage a protest in the school over increased in school fees.


Okon Okon Jacob, who said he is a graduate of an unknown College of Education, got entrance into the University with other youths who were not students of UNICAL to stage the protest.


Student Union Government President, James Ugah, said that their attention was drawn to the activities of the group on campus.


Ugah explained that when they accosted Okon Okon Jacob and his group, they found out that they were not students of the University of Calabar.


"Our attention was drawn to the activities of the group around the hostel, when we immediately rushed to the area, we interrogated them and found out that they were not students of the University of Calabar. Infact they were hoodlums who came in to disrupt the peace of the institution.


"Thereafter, we alerted UNICAL security operatives who immediately came and arrested them," he said.


The Chief Security Officer of UNICAL, SP Usani Okon Etim (Rtd), said that after due investigation, most of the youths who came for the protest were not students of UNICAL.


According to him, investigation from security agencies revealed that Okon Okon Jacob was the organiser of the protest.


"The suspect is not a student of UNICAL. He told us that he graduated from a College of Education, yet we cant verify it. We can not allow any hoodlums or groups of misguided individuals to stage any protest on campus.


"The University has not recovered from the last #Endsars protest were critical infrastructure were destroyed. We cannot afford to allow such to happen again," he said.


He said that they had planned to destroy facilities in the University before their arrest.


The suspect was handed over to operatives of DSS for further investigation and necessary action.

Engr. Jerome Egbe Visits NSCDC Command for Strategic Partnership on Public Utilities

  The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. UNICROSS ACTING VC EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER DAMAGE OF UNIVERSITY STUCTURES AFTER RAINSTORM IN CALABAR
